About HomeMount Lab
A clearer way to plan everyday mounting jobs.
HomeMount Lab is an independent educational website for U.S. homeowners and renters who want to understand the wall, fastener and risks before reaching for a drill.
Our purpose
Home-mounting advice is often reduced to a single weight number or a product list. Real installations are more nuanced. Wall construction, material condition, hole quality, fastener spacing and leverage all matter. We organize those questions into practical decision steps and explain when a web article is not enough.
What we publish
Our coverage focuses on drywall, plaster, wood framing, concrete and brick; wall anchors and screws; drill-bit selection; mounting failure diagnosis; and small cosmetic repairs associated with mounting. We intentionally keep the subject narrow so articles can connect to a coherent body of knowledge.
How our guides are made
Articles compare manufacturer-style installation requirements, technical publications and established building guidance. The editorial desk then converts that research into original explanations, checklists and decision tools. When a statement is based on published specifications rather than independent physical testing, we say so.
What we do not claim
HomeMount Lab does not inspect your wall, certify an installation or replace a licensed contractor, engineer or manufacturer. We do not claim first-hand product testing unless a guide explicitly describes the method and evidence. Safety-critical topics are kept outside the scope of simplified recommendations.
