The installation instructions for the object and fastener take priority over general articles and tools on this site. Observe substrate, wall-thickness, hole-diameter, spacing, edge-distance, embedment, torque and load-orientation requirements.
High-consequence installations
Use qualified professional help for structural work, electrical or gas work, large cantilevered loads, overhead suspension, grab bars, climbing or exercise equipment, cabinets, child-safety restraints, valuable objects and any installation whose failure could seriously injure someone.
Personal protection and work practices
Use eye, hearing, respiratory and other protection appropriate to the material and tool. Control dust, support the work, keep others out of the drop zone and use ladders and power tools only as their manufacturers direct.
Older homes and hazardous materials
Paint, plaster, insulation, tile, adhesive and other materials in older homes may contain lead, asbestos or other hazards. Do not disturb suspect material without appropriate evaluation and controls.
